During the post-war period, another experienced captain, Mr. Luigi Cattaruzza, once terminated his work onboard, decided to found the navigation company Ocean S.r.l., which started operating cabotage services between ports of the Adriatic Sea. The activity developed up to establishing a traffic line between the Mediterranean Sea and West Africa. At present, Ocean operates in Mediterranean Sea both through its branch maritime agencies and by directly manning navigation units for harbour services (towage, ships bunkering, barge chartering).
By founding the OSA (50% Ocean and 50% Offshore Supply Association from Bremen), Ocean S.r.l. succeeded in transferring to the Mediterranean Sea the know-how the German partner had acquired during its long-year experience in the management of over 1000 AHT and AHTS in the seas worldwide, including the waters of Newfoundland, Greenland, the Magellan’s Straits, Arctic and Antarctic Sea.
In the same period, Ocean established a joint-service with the Hapag Lloyd from Hamburg for the transportation of offshore units by means of flat top barges and the management of the heavy-lift service with its ships “Storm”, “Storman Asia” and “Storm 3”.
The Family Day has been conceived as a strong Michela Cattaruzza’s desire to share the union team spirit that has always enlivened Ocean with all the employees, inviting all the staff members to spend a joyful day with their families in order to present, especially to children, where and what their parents do during their working day.
Family Day is a great party that begins mid-morning with a packed and well-structured program and continues until late afternoon with a musical background set up for the event.
The main attention is paid in particular to the youngest with assigned recreational and educational activities, organised on different age groups and whose common denominator is always a hot and environmentally-friendly topic (anti-pollution, for example).
There is a gadget designed and created especially for the event and kindly provided to all the participants.
